Deadline discipline
Track amendments—not just the closing date
The version you downloaded on day one may not be the version you need to answer. Put amendment checks into your bid workflow.
What the federal rule says
For solicitations governed by FAR 15.206, the contracting officer must amend the solicitation when the government changes requirements or terms and conditions, whether before or after receipt of proposals.[2]
The rule lists information an amendment should include, such as its number and date, a description of the change, and a revised closing date if applicable. An amendment does not necessarily extend the deadline.[2]
This is a federal negotiated-procurement rule—not a universal rule for every state, local or federal purchase. Read the instructions and applicable rules for the actual procurement.
Maintain a small deadline log
Our suggested log records the submission deadline, its stated time zone, the questions cutoff, any mandatory visit or conference, the latest amendment checked and the date of your last review. If a field is missing, mark it unknown and seek clarification through the buyer's designated channel.
Recheck before submission
- Open the official notice and download every relevant amendment.
- Compare scope, quantities, pricing instructions and evaluation requirements against your draft.
- Update your deadline log only when the official record supports the change.
- Follow the solicitation's instructions for acknowledging amendments.
- Leave an internal review buffer before the actual deadline; do not rely on a last-minute upload.
The owner remains responsible for final review and submission. Bidoogle does not sign or submit a bid on your behalf.
